Down the Dusty Trail

Genesis 2: 7—God created man from dust……

Keith Green sang in the 90’s, “From dust to dust until we learn how to trust.”

All we are just little pieces of dust.   “All we are is dust in the wind…”  sung by the band, Kansas.

Is it true?  Is it that simple?  Can we clean up that easily; just a Swiffer away from being swiped up, taken out, shaken, and floating into oblivion?

In Pilgrim’s Progress, Christian learns to let God clean the hidden, dusty rooms.  Sometimes married life has those dry times of swirling dust in the desert.  We may say, “Stop yer yammerin’ or does it go on and on like the stinkin’ desert?”

Are we willing to let the Holy Spirit clean out the cobwebs and sneeze away those sour attitudes that annoy and itch at us?   Do we believe in love?  Do we accept how we are not the center of the world?  Who said marriage needs a good dusting and polish job regularly to stay bright and fresh?

Well, laws of nature have made it clear; clean it up or snuff up the dust and get a headache.  A loving, peaceful marriage is worth the effort it takes to maintain!!  Listen to God’s nudging of those thoughtful, loving gestures that can brighten your lives.  Maybe God is telling you to laugh with your mate.  Reflect, listen, respond.  The Lord will refresh so your soul is radiant with pure polished glisten.  This is a form of Protection.  We protect our partners from ourselves.   We are the most “dangerous” person to our spouse.   We have the ability to hurt or bless our spouse more than anyone.

Today we pray:      “Psa 139:23 ISV.. Examine me, God, and know my mind, test me, and know my thoughts.  See if there is any offensive tendency in me, and lead me in the eternal way.
